The METRONET Railcar Program will deliver 246 C-series railcars to service new rail projects throughout WA.

The trains are being built at the Railcar Manufacturing and Maintenance Facility in Bellevue, and will replace the older A-series trains. Construction of the facility was completed in June 2021.

The modern C-series train design features a higher passenger capacity than the previous models, with additional doors to improve passenger flow.

Additionally, six new diesel railcars will be delivered to replace the existing Australind Service fleet between Perth and Bunbury.

The first of the C-series railcars have been in operation since April 2024 on the Mandurah and Joondalup lines.
