The new Brooking Channel Bridge in WA's Kimberley Region opened to traffic on Wednesday, 13 November 2024.

The bridge is a vital addition to Great Northern Highway, replacing the ageing single-lane bridge with a stronger dual-lane bridge to strengthen supply chains and support the region to better respond the emergencies.

The new 127-metre bridge is designed to better withstand major flooding events, and has two 3.5m lanes and 1.2m shoulders, providing a structure capable of supporting large loads, including road trains and heavy goods vehicles.
