Upgrades are underway on key roads and intersections as part of the Maylands Road Improvements project.

The improvements will support the closure of the Caledonian Avenue Level Crossing, improving traffic flow and safety for road users, pedestrians and cyclists.

The existing Holtham Bridge is being reconfigured to include a new right-turn lane, providing direct access to the Maylands town centre, with traffic signals at the intersection of Railway Parade and Whatley Crescent.

New protected bike lanes were installed on Railway Parade in late-2022. Supported by a speed reduction, this provides a safer journey for cyclists travelling between Meltham and Maylands Station.
