The two-stage upgrade of Indian Ocean Drive is complete. The improvement works on this project enhanced road safety and transport efficiencies for local commuters and tourist traffic.
Stage One was completed in May 2023, and delivered approximately 24 kilometres of widened roads between Jurien Bay and Greenhead.
Stage Two involved the 33km widening between Leeman and Brand Highway, construction of two passing lanes, realignment of crests and curves and installation of audible edge lines. The road reopened to traffic on 4 April 2025.
