Motorists will enjoy smoother, safer journeys into Fremantle following the completion of the High Street upgrade between Carrington Street and Stirling Highway.

Works included the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of High Street and Stirling Highway, new bypass lanes, and a wide median on High Street to separate traffic lanes.

New underpasses have also been created at the junctions of Forrest Street and Stirling Highway, and Montreal Street and High Street. The underpasses feature artworks from two prominent local Noongar artists – the Peter Farmer Group and Lance Chadd. The large-scale murals tell traditional stories of the area.

Benefits

  • Improved road safety and efficiency
  • Reduced traffic congestion and travel times along High Street
  • Offers a more efficient route for locals and visitors travelling to and from Fremantle
  • Local job and contract opportunities throughout construction
