The Geraldton Cycling Network Expansion Project is a three-stage initiative to connect the region’s northern and southern suburbs.

This project will see an additional 8.3 kilometres of high-quality shared path added to the Geraldton’s riding and walking network.

Stage one was completed in December 2022. This included a 380-metre-long, 3-metre-wide off-road path built along Glenfield Beach Drive between Hillview Drive and Chapman Road.

Stage two, completed in July 2023, consists of a 3.5-kilometre-long, 3-metre-wide shared path along Chapman Road, connecting Corallina Quays and Glenfield Beach Drive.

Stage three is in planning and will see a 4.8-kilometre-long shared path constructed along Brand Highway from Tarcoola Beach to Cape Burey. Design is underway.

These paths are priority projects as part of the Geraldton 2050 Cycling Strategy, seeking to improve community connectivity and safety, and provide more walking, wheeling and riding options for the local community and visitors.

Benefits

  • Improve connectivity to accommodation, beach attractions and other facilities
  • Provides safe walking, wheeling and riding routes
