The Department of Transport is enhancing various services and amenities at Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour to improve the experience for both harbour users and visitors.

Electrical upgrade

Electrical infrastructure at the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour has not been upgraded since around 1985, in the lead-up to the America's Cup defence. The electrical upgrade will create a safer network with improved capacity to power harbour operations for years to come.

Significant planning activities have been complete and construction is anticipated to commence in early-2025.

Jetty replacement

Jetty 3 reached the end of its serviceable life and will be replaced with a modern floating pen system to accommodate 45 new berths.

Work to upgrade Jetty 3 was completed in 2023 along with the essential preparations for the delivery of the first penholder facility and services upgrade.

Penholder amenities and services upgrade

Facility improvements for recreational boating in the southern part of Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour will be delivered in two phases.

Phase 1 works were completed in September 2023 and involved the land reclamation project in preparation for the construction of the amenities building in the future. Additional completed works include pedestrian footpaths, landscaping, lighting, and services improving public connectivity, amenity and safety.

Phase 2 will see the construction of a modern penholder facility in a secure area, in line with marina design standards. Works are expected to commence in early-2025, after completion of the design phase. Penholders access to the new facility is anticipated for early-2026.
