The Congdon Street Bridge Replacement project is in planning and will replace the 114-year-old ageing timber bridge over the Fremantle Line at Swanbourne Station.

Used by over 5,000 vehicles per day, Congdon Street Bridge is a critical link for residents, businesses, schools and commuters in the Swanbourne community. The replacement will increase safety, reduce ongoing maintenance costs and present future closures that may inconvenience commuters.

Planned designs also include wider traffic lanes and shared paths on both sides of the bridge, improving connectivity to and around the area.

Western Power will start relocating services in late-2024 in preparation for bridge construction to commence in 2025.

Construction is expected to be undertaken in stages to allow road users, pedestrians and cyclists to continue crossing the railway using sections of the existing and temporary bridge.
